Introduction

State-of-the-Art Infrastructure

Advanced Joint Replacement

The Nanavati Max Centre for Orthopaedics, Joint Reconstruction and Spine Surgery has performed a large number of total knee and hip replacement surgeries, with results comparable to the best centres in the world. The Centre also offers Uni-Condylar Knee Arthroplasty, which is performed on relatively young patients with knee arthritis. Shoulder and elbow Arthroplasty as well as Arthroplasty for small joints in the hand, especially in case of rheumatoid arthritis, are some of the key services offered to patients so as to improve their overall quality of life.

The Orthopaedic team has expertise in revision joint replacement surgery for hip and knee joint replacement, using special implants and frozen bone graft. The Centre utilises 'Computer Aided Navigation' surgery which is especially useful in cases of severe deformity.

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

The Nanavati Max Spine Team offers Minimal Access Spine Surgery, Microscope Endoscopic Disc Surgery and Spine Fusion using Minimally Invasive Technique (MITLIF). There are only a handful of surgeons trained specifically for these techniques in India. These are some of the best minds and they perform the surgeries with absolute precision.

Spine deformities like Scoliosis and Kyphosis are rectified using segmental correction with modern instrumentation techniques under neuromonitoring. Spine fractures in the elderly are treated by injecting bone cement into the vertebra (Kyphoplasty) under local anaesthesia, resulting in excellent pain relief and early mobilisation.

At Nanavati Max Super Speciality, the emphasis is on early rehabilitation. In disc operations, patients are discharged from the hospital a day after the microsurgery. Patients who undergo minimal access fusion surgery are discharged from the hospital within 2-3 days. The results of these surgeries are at par with global standards.

Trauma Care

The facility for Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI), a biomedical treatment that repairs damages in articular cartilage (extremely useful for young and aspiring sportspersons), is readily available at the Sports Medicine Centre.
